Vital Workplace™

Photo of a healthy, effective teamMental health conditions represent 49% of lost work time, contributing to an estimated $11 billion in lost productivity for Canadian businesses. Emerging legal standards are also now holding employers accountable for the mental health and safety of their employees, with judgements nearing $1 million. Vital Workplace™ is your solution for creating a mentally safe workplace and sustaining top-performing teams.

A Changing Environment for Organizational Success

Today, companies are only as successful as their employees are effective. Employees are working longer, are under increased stress and efficiency depends on teamwork. The result can be an emotionally unsafe workplace with increased mental health problems. If left unresolved, this can lead to conflict among team members, missed deadlines, signs of detachment from work, absence and disability. However, high functioning workgroups are achievable when organizations recognize the importance of rebuilding a foundation for a low-stress, fair and mutually respectful environment. That’s exactly what the Vital Workplace™ program is designed to do.

Vital Workplace™ is a facilitated process for building , maintaining or restoring a culture of civility and emotional safety within workgroups. It was developed in partnership with Dr. Martin Shain and is based on more than a decade of research in organizational design and mental health. The cornerstone of this research is the concept of fairness and its impact on the quality of work relationships. The Vital Workplace™ program uses this conceptual foundation to transform workplace relations, practices and culture.

Vital Workplace™ - Where Health and High Performance Meet

Our Vital Workplace™ program creates a foundation for a working environment that is characterized by high job satisfaction, manageable stress and effective workgroup capacities. We provide you with the tools and information needed to improve workplace relationships and attain dramatic increases in organizational well-being.

Managing Health and Productivity Outcomes

The Vital Workplace™ process capitalizes on what scientific research and organizational experience have taught us in terms of foreseeing and managing mental health outcomes in the workplace.

Your organization will immediately benefit from:

  • Measurable increases in the appearance of workplace relationships and interactions that promote mental health, productivity and employee satisfaction
  • Measurable reductions in the occurrence of workplace relationships that are hostile to mental health
  • Stronger working relationships between workgroups and management
  • A firm understanding of your company’s liabilities, responsibilities and discretionary decision-making as it concerns employees’ emotional safety

When fully implemented, Vital Workplace™ can reduce the occurrence of mental distress symptoms among employees by one third.
