Take10 Violence Prevention

Your Partner in Workplace Health™

As Your Partner in Workplace Health™, we are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. Our Take10 violence prevention program is based on our decades of experience in communities across Canada working with individuals and families who have experienced violence - including both victims and abusers. In fact, our Take10 workplace program is recognized for its unique understanding of the common elements and impact of violent behaviours from partner and elder abuse, to violence and abuse in the workplace.

Our Take10 workplace program is comprised of three elements that focus on anger management and violence reduction. These elements are:

  • Policy and Procedures Development
  • Workplace Training
  • Take10 Helpline Service

Policy and Procedures Development

Our Take10 consulting team works with organizations seeking to establish or refine existing violence prevention policies and procedures. Policy development consulting services range from the establishment of clear guidelines and accountabilities, to developing or collecting relevant support policies (e.g. harassment, drug and alcohol), organizational and individual risk assessment tools, to comprehensive training programs for management and staff.

Workplace Violence Prevention Training

The Take10 training menu offers several options beginning with training around the specifics of the violence policy to be adopted or adapted. The training needs of employees within an organization will vary depending on whether they are held accountable to follow policy guidelines; implement procedures and handle complaints or; prevent violence by raising awareness of warning signals, identifying high-risk situations, and where appropriate, encouraging or supporting employees to access the Employee Assistance Program.

Other training modules are available for employee and management groups. Some of them focus specifically on conflict. Others focus on improving skills and workplace functioning. See Training Workshops for more on our skills development services.

We also offer workplace interventions for organizations or departments experiencing widespread conflict and negativity resulting in poor morale, relationship tensions and low productivity. See Workplace Interventions from our Tools for a Healthy Workplace menu.

The Take10 Helpline Service*

The Take10 helpline service is accessible 24/7 to provide employees who are at risk of losing control of their anger at work with immediate crisis defusing, support and direction. It also offers mini debriefings and safety planning for employees dealing with a workplace situation that has made them feel threatened and unsafe. The toll-free telephone line is answered by master's level counsellors who have been trained in anger and safety management.

*The Take10 Helpline is usually offered as part of an Employee Assistance Program.
