e-SAP Online Training & Certification

What is e-SAP?
e-SAP is a unique training program, examination and certification for Substance Abuse Professionals who perform drug and alcohol abuse assessments as part of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) drug testing program.
e-SAP was developed by Family Services Employee Assistance Programs, an experienced provider of EAP and addiction services for over 30 years.
Who can take the e-SAP training program?
The e-SAP program is designed for current and prospective members of the Integrated Workplace Solutions [IWS] network of Substance Abuse Professionals. A Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a counsellor or physician who meets the requirements of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to perform assessment and clinical evaluation under DOT regulations for transportation employers. Certified members of the [IWS] SAP network may also perform SAP assessments for non-dot-regulated workplaces with safety-sensitive employees.

Why should I take the e-SAP training program?
Under the DOT regulations, all SAPs must:
- meet the mimimum qualifications;
- satisfactorily complete a qualification training program and;
- participate in ongoing professional development.
These standards, the only externally monitored standards for SAPs in North America. [IWS] has adopted these standards to apply for all our SAPs who perform assessments for both DOT regulated, and non-regulated workplaces.

What is included in the e-SAP training program?
The e-SAP training program is delivered online. All you need to complete the course is an Internet connection and Web browser. You can complete your training in your own home or office and at your own pace.
The material is organized in learning modules including an Introductory Course, Refresher and Situation Handling. Learning modules include quizes to help you indentify areas for improvement. A final examination tests your knowledge of the material. Users who complete the course and achieve a passing grade receive certification.
The program includes one-year access to the online resources.
All e-SAP users have access to an on-line help guide and technical support.
